Private chauffeur service
RAF Northolt The West London Gateway For Private Aviation
RAF Northolt holds a distinctive place in London's aviation landscape. It is an active Royal Air Force station in west London rather than a commercial airport, and alongside its military role it handles civilian business aviation under the station's own arrangements. For passengers whose journey continues into the capital, Chauffeurs World provides the road journey that follows.
RAF Northolt
A Different Kind Of London Arrival
Arriving at Northolt is not like arriving at one of London's scheduled airports. There is no airline terminal to cross and no concourse to navigate. It is a working RAF station on the western edge of the capital that also accommodates civilian business aviation, and that shapes the whole character of the arrival.
For the passenger, the practical question is a simple one: what happens once the aircraft is on the ground. The answer usually involves a short, controlled movement and then a road journey into London, to a residence, to a meeting or out towards the country.
That road journey is our part of it. Chauffeurs World arranges the vehicle and the chauffeur around the details you or your operator confirm, so that the transition from aircraft to car is quiet and unhurried rather than something to organise on arrival.
Aviation heritage
A Century Of Aviation At Northolt
Few airfields in the country have been in use for as long. Northolt opened on 3 May 1915 and is the oldest RAF station, with the longest record of continuous use of any RAF airfield.
It became one of the airfields defending London during the Battle of Britain, flown from by squadrons that included No. 303 (Polish) Squadron, whose record in that summer is among the best known in the RAF's history. From 1946, while Heathrow was still being built, civil airliners flew from Northolt, and for a period it was one of the busiest airfields in Europe. Those scheduled services moved to Heathrow when its central area opened in 1954.
The station returned to military flying and has stayed in service ever since. Its history is not a marketing device, but it does explain the place: a long-established station on the edge of the city, still working, and still a serious aviation address rather than a modern terminal built for volume.

Business aviation
Private Aviation Close To The Capital
Today Northolt is used by both military and civilian aircraft, and is home to RAF units including No. 32 (The Royal) Squadron. Business aviation forms a significant part of the civilian movements, which take place under conditions the station sets.
Those conditions matter to anyone planning a journey. Civil flying at Northolt is limited in volume and in the kinds of aircraft that may use it, and every civil movement is arranged in advance through the operator. It is not an airport a passenger simply turns up at.
What that produces is a small-scale aviation environment close to west London, which can suit a business itinerary that begins or ends in the capital. The advantage is proximity and scale rather than the facilities of a large private terminal, and we would rather describe it that way than promise something the station has not published.
After landing
From Aircraft To Chauffeur
Once the aircraft is down, the day resumes. There may be a meeting already in the diary, a hotel expecting an arrival, a residence to reach or a second flight later in the week.
Our role begins at that point. The station and the aviation providers working there handle everything on the aviation side; Chauffeurs World provides the ground journey that follows and nothing beyond it.
In practice that means a chauffeur prepared for the journey rather than simply dispatched to an address: the destination known, the vehicle suited to the passengers and luggage, and the route planned around whatever the rest of the day holds.
Collection
A Controlled And Considered Arrival
Access to an active RAF station is controlled, and it is controlled by the station rather than by us. We make no claim to influence it, and we do not describe procedures the RAF has not published.
What we can do is prepare properly. Collection arrangements are agreed in advance and coordinated around the arrival details supplied by the passenger or the aircraft operator, and your chauffeur meets you at the agreed collection point, subject to the station's own access arrangements on the day.
For a passenger, that is the useful part. The arrangements are settled before you land, so the ground journey is already understood by the time you are ready to leave.
Into the capital
Central London And The West End
Northolt's position on the western side of London makes the capital the natural first destination for many arrivals. A journey may continue towards Mayfair, Marylebone, the Park Lane and Hyde Park area, Kensington, Paddington or another central address.
The West End is often the reason for the trip, whether that means an office, a hotel, a restaurant, a theatre or a private appointment. Central London is also where a day tends to become several movements rather than one, and a chauffeur arrangement can hold those together.
We do not publish journey times for these routes. London traffic does not work that way, and a promise of minutes is worth very little at five o'clock on a Thursday. What we will do is plan the journey around the time you need to arrive.

Executive travel
Business Travel Across London
A business day in London rarely stops at one address. An executive may arrive for a morning meeting, move across the city at lunchtime, return to a hotel and go out again in the evening.
Arranged as one chauffeur service rather than as separate bookings, those movements become considerably easier to manage. The same chauffeur knows the shape of the day, the luggage stays in the car and nobody is arranging transport between appointments.
This suits visiting executives, teams travelling together and anyone whose schedule has to hold. Tell us what the day involves and we will arrange the vehicle and the chauffeur around it.
The City and Canary Wharf
Commercial Destinations Across The Capital
Not every London itinerary is a West End one. The City and Canary Wharf remain the destinations for financial, legal and corporate business, and a passenger arriving at Northolt may be heading straight across the capital to reach them.
These journeys cross London rather than skirt it, which makes the timing worth planning rather than leaving to chance. The car can be held between appointments where a day involves several, and return journeys can be arranged in the same conversation.
Whether the destination is an office, a meeting room or a corporate event, the intention is the same: the ground travel should be the part of the day nobody has to think about.
Hotels and residences
Hotels, Residences And The Next Destination
For many arrivals the first stop is a hotel or a private residence. Northolt's position suits both central London and the western side of the city, and a chauffeur journey can continue to either without a change of arrangement.
Where a stay involves more than the arrival itself, the same service can carry through it: collections from the hotel, an evening engagement, a return to the station for the flight home. For a household or a principal's office, a single point of contact for the ground travel tends to be simpler than several.
Our approach to these journeys is quiet and practical. The vehicle is presented properly, the chauffeur knows where you are going, and nothing about the arrangement draws attention to itself.

Corporate travel
Corporate Travel From RAF Northolt
Corporate travel through Northolt often involves more than one passenger and more than one vehicle. A delegation may arrive together, split across a day of meetings and reconvene for a dinner or a departure.
We can arrange those movements as a single programme, with the vehicles and timings planned around the itinerary rather than booked one at a time. Companies that travel regularly can hold an account, so that the arrangements and the reporting stay in one place.
For the executives themselves, the point is continuity. The same standard of vehicle and the same professional chauffeur service, whether the journey is the first transfer of the visit or the last one.
Private clients
For Private Clients Who Value Discretion
Private clients arriving at Northolt tend to value the same things the station itself offers: a smaller scale, and an arrival that is not conducted in public.
A journey may run to a London residence, a hotel, a family house in the country or an appointment that nobody needs to know about. Families travelling together may need space for luggage or a child seat fitted before the car arrives. Principals' offices often arrange the whole itinerary on someone else's behalf.
In each case discretion is simply part of doing the job properly: a chauffeur who is prepared, a car that is ready, and a journey that is handled without commentary.

Events
From Northolt To London's Major Events
West London is also where a great deal of the city's sport and entertainment happens. Wembley is the obvious example, and the calendar around it brings visitors into the capital for fixtures, concerts and corporate hospitality throughout the year.
Event travel has its own demands. Arrival times matter, roads close, and the return journey afterwards is usually the harder half. We plan these movements in advance and agree where the car will be waiting, rather than leaving it to be worked out on the night.
We make no promises about traffic, and no claim to special access at any venue. What we can do is plan sensibly and keep the arrangement clear.
Before you land
A Chauffeur Service Planned Around Your Arrival
A good airport journey is mostly decided before it starts. Where the passenger is going, how many are travelling, what luggage there is, whether the car is needed later in the day: none of it is complicated, but all of it is easier settled in advance.
When you make the arrangements, we use the details you or your operator provide to prepare the collection: the vehicle chosen for the journey, the chauffeur briefed on the destination and the route considered before the day.
It is a deliberately unremarkable process. The intention is that the ground journey asks nothing of you once you have landed.
The fleet
The Right Vehicle For The Journey
The right car depends on the journey rather than on the badge. An executive travelling alone into the West End is well served by a saloon; a family with luggage or a team travelling together needs space; an occasion sometimes calls for something more distinctive.
The Chauffeurs World fleet includes Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach saloons, the BMW 7 Series, Range Rover, Land Rover Defender, Bentley and Rolls-Royce models, so the choice can be made around the passengers, the luggage and the occasion.
If you are not sure which suits the journey, tell us who is travelling and where you are going and we will suggest one.

Beyond London
When Northolt Is Only The Beginning
Northolt is not only a way into London. Its position on the western side of the city makes it a practical starting point for journeys that leave the capital altogether.
A passenger may continue into Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire or Surrey, towards a country house, a business location, a school or an event. Others travel further still, to another city or across several days of appointments.
These journeys are planned as journeys rather than transfers. Where an itinerary runs over more than one day or more than one destination, it is worth discussing the whole of it, so the ground travel is arranged as one plan.
Common questions
Questions We Are Asked About Northolt
How Does An RAF Northolt Chauffeur Collection Work?
Northolt is a working Royal Air Force station that also handles business aviation, and access is governed by the station's own procedures. The collection is arranged around the instructions issued for your movement rather than around a standard airport arrangement.
Can You Arrange Access To The Station?
No. Clearance and access at Northolt are matters for the station and your handler, and we neither control nor claim any part of that process. We arrange the chauffeur and the journey around the arrangements that are confirmed to you.
Can You Take Me From Northolt Into Central London?
Yes. Northolt sits in west London, which makes it convenient for central London, the west of the city and journeys along the M40 and M4 corridors.
What Should I Provide Before Travelling?
Whatever arrival and access information has been confirmed to you, along with passenger numbers, luggage and your destination. At Northolt in particular the instructions you are given take precedence over any general arrangement.
